It Has Arrived, whoa!

It finally made it here! During the long four day wait I did some research. If you choose to purchase a Concept 2 Model D indoor rowing machine you'll find that the online community is

Concept 2 Model D at top of landing
  • user friendly registration
  • easy to navigate
  • extremely motivating
  • fun for the whole family
  • international access

My daughter (17 years old) put it together in under 15 minutes. She had the first attempt on it and fell in love. I went second and in only two minutes was sweating.

When I weighed myself last I was 182.3 lbs, after an entire 7 minutes of rowing and a very easy bike ride of 15 minutes (kept my daughter company on a run she did), I'm down to 181.3 lbs.

The goal is to be down to 165 lbs by mid October and 150 by New Years Eve!

What is amazing about the Concept 2  logbook is that the motivation to sign up and join in the challenges is addicting. My family and I have already created a team and we've all spent time on the machine. My daughter and I are working towards our first 1 million meters. Can't wait!

In the meanwhile, we're trying to get 5 hours logged on during the time of the Olympics. Only problem is, I'm new to this and I have to ease into it to avoid injury. So I'll do my beginning workouts in 5 to 7 minute spurts and focus on technique.

Happy Rowing!!

PS We bought a mat and we are so glad we did! We have the machine at the top landing of our stairs and we think it will work. Never out of sight out of mind. We are forced to walk by it on our way to the bedrooms. Plus we have a tv mounted so we can watch the rowers and row. Too much fun!!

The Rowing Machine is Coming...the Rowing Machine is Coming

We did it, instead of gym memberships we purchased a rowing machine.
Should be here in three days. Pictures to come.

Why did we purchase a rowing machine instead of opting for gym memberships?
1. New town, new gym. No pool, big drawback.
2. If we have to walk by it every day, much greater likelihood we'll use the darn thing.
3. Great exercise!
4. I'm 30 pounds overweight and this looks like a good thing to do anytime of day, anytime of year!

Why blog about it!
1. Accountability
2. If I lose 20-30 lbs this year, I want to have record of how I did it.
3. Might be a great way to encourage a reader to do the same! We could compare notes.

What I will and won't do.
1. No pills, no gimmicks, no pink drinks.
2. Edaleen Ice Cream is allowed! It's the best vanilla on the planet.
3. Good food and a multi-vitamin or vitamin C as needed to keep the colds away.
4. I will weigh myself daily.
5. I will buy clothes as needed! I just tossed out all my suits. For real, I did.
